Caves Ferreira resumes special wine tastings
Starting on 1 July, Caves Ferreira will be resuming the series of special wine tastings which began in 2020. Three special dates will offer a rare opportunity for wine connoisseurs to try some of Porto Ferreira’s finest creations, such as the award-winning Vintages and best wines from the Dona Antónia range.
The return of special wine tastings at Caves Ferreira offers sessions on 1, 8 and 22 July, scheduled to start at 5:00 PM. The tastings begin with a guided tour of the cellars, delving into the history of Dona Antónia, Port Wine and the Douro region. The sessions, with a maximum of 12 participants, will be run and interpreted by winemakers and wine educators from Sogrape.
The session on 1 July will be dedicated to wines from the Dona Antónia range, paying tribute to the name and contributions of this great woman from the Douro in developing the region and its Port Wine, unveiling the secrets of Reserve White, White 10 Years Old, Tawny Reserve, Tawny 10 Years Old and Tawny 20 Years Old to participants.
For lovers of the category, the tasting on 8 July is a journey to discover the heritage of Classic Vintages from Porto Ferreira’s wine cellar. Offering a unique experience of travelling through time, Luís Sottomayor, the winemaker in charge of Douro wines at Sogrape, guides a tasting of the acclaimed Ferreira Vintages from 1952, 1960, 1978, 1985, 1999 and 2018. It is a true testimonial to the extraordinary history of the brand and its cellars, where the very best wines have commingled since 1815.
On 22 July, the tasting is again dedicated to the Vintages, this time a Quinta do Porto Special featuring the Vintages Quinta do Porto 2015 and 2017, Vinhas Velhas 2016 and finally Vintage 2018, which recently received the highest score of 100 points from the highly regarded American magazine Wine Enthusiast. A trip through Caves Ferreira, one of the richest cellars of Vintage Port Wines, as well as a place of worship for connoisseurs.

Note that Caves Ferreira is a wine tourism venue with the “Clean & Safe Establishment” seal, for meeting all of the conditions and measures of the Portuguese Directorate-General of Health (DGS) and Turismo de Portugal. With a focus on the safety and health of everyone involved, its operation complies with Sogrape’s Wine Tourism Safety Protocol, with a set of guidelines to be followed as guests begin to return. There is a limited number of visitors per group/tour to ensure social distancing, and that both spaces allow compliance due to their large size, during the entire time.
