Luís Sottomayor

When he joined the team of master Fernando Nicolau de Almeida in 1989, Luís Sottomayor knew he was in the right place to be part of producing the Douro's very best wines. His academic career took him to France and Australia, while today, recognised for his skill and the quality of his work, he leads Sogrape's Douro winemaking team, responsible for wines such as the mythic Barca-Velha and the famous vintages of Porto Ferreira and Sandeman Tawnies.

António Braga

António Braga started his career as a winemaker in 2003. Driven by curiosity and the desire to get to know new places, he took part in grape harvests in Alentejo, California, Argentina, Chile, and New Zealand. After travelling the world, António joined Sogrape as a winemaker in 2007, starting in the Douro next to Luís Sottomayor, and embraced a bigger challenge from 2017 to 2022 as the head of Sogrape’s Mateus, Vinhos Verdes, Dão and Lisbon Winemaking Department.

Diogo Sepúlveda

With more than 15 years of experience in the wine sector, Diogo has a vast international career, having worked on projects in different countries such as Portugal, the USA, Australia, and France. Today, is in charge of winemaking management for Mateus, Vinho Verde, Dão and Lisbon.

Luís Cabral Almeida

For Luís Cabral de Almeida, wine has always been more than just a simple pleasure. Originating from a family involved in this occupation, he travelled through France and Australia during his academic training, starting his career in the Douro region. The Dão region was another one of his stops, as well as his debut at Sogrape, together with Argentina, where he has 10 years of experience heading up Finca Flichman. Since 2012, Luís’ destiny has been the Alentejo, a region which always fascinated him for its notion of horizon where, more than anywhere else, he believes that the winemaker’s role is to interpret nature.
