Sogrape organises the first edition of the Sogrape Terroirs Experience

Sogrape recently organised the first edition of the Sogrape Terroirs Experience, an exclusive event designed to unite and strengthen relations with some of its main customers. Through a unique immersive experience, participants had the chance to explore Portugal's unique terroir, get to know its exceptional vineyards and immerse themselves in the essence of Sogrape Fine Wines.

In addition to visiting some of Sogrape's most important and emblematic properties, the event had a solid educational component, with sessions and workshops organised by the Sogrape Wine Academy. This allowed participants to broaden their knowledge of Sogrape's portfolio, philosophy, and purpose.

Sogrape Terroirs Experience: Three Days of Knowledge and Discovery

Day One: Herdade do Peso

On the first day, the group headed south to discover Alentejo's unique climate at Herdade do Peso. The visit included a session led by winemaker Luís Cabral de Almeida, during which they learnt about the main challenges of this climate, the winemaking techniques in greater detail, and the combination of ancient and modern methods that make Herdade do Peso so special.

Day Two: Quinta da Leda

The next day was spent at Quinta da Leda in the Douro, home of the iconic Barca-Velha. On this visit, with the participation of Luís de Sottomayor and José Manso, the team explored the topography of the Douro and learnt in greater detail about the adaptations needed for winemaking in such a challenging environment. This was also an opportunity to realise the multiple options and styles of wine that represent Casa Ferreirinha's pioneering spirit.

Day Three: Quinta do Seixo and Sandeman Cellars

Still in the Douro, the start of the third day was dedicated to a visit to Quinta do Seixo. Here, the group learnt more about the Research & Development projects implemented at this property and the experience of creating their own blend with an interactive session.

Participants also learnt in greater detail about Port's challenges and the traditional methods and modern approaches that enable the production of top-class wines.

To round off the final day, they travelled to Vila Nova de Gaia to visit the Sandeman Cellars, one of Sogrape's most prestigious wine tourism sites.

The first edition of this event took place from 13 to 15 May. Over these three days, it highlighted Portugal's climatic and topographical diversity, showing how biodiversity and sustainability play a fundamental role in the industry.
