G.O.T.A. Project - Manage, Operationalise and Transfer. Efficient use of water in vineyards: benefiting from every drop
The very specific conditions of the Douro Demarcated Region (relief, costs) make irrigation a sensitive issue, requiring water to be managed rationally and thoughtfully.
Sogrape's extensive experience managing water stress in grapevines has created knowledge and know-how of the most efficient irrigation strategies, sensing equipment available on the market, and the real gains (grape production and wine quality) from these practices.
This project was coordinated by ADVID and funded by the Gulbenkian Água Programme, Sogrape participated in and organised knowledge and experience-sharing sessions to transfer knowledge to small and medium-sized grape-growers.
Sogrape's action in this project was yet another contribution to the sustainability of large and small grape-growers in the Douro Demarcated Region.
The contents of these sessions are summarised in three dissemination videos so any winegrower can continue to benefit from the combined knowledge of everyone who participated in this project.

The project concluded with a seminar where international experts joined Sogrape staff members and other partners to discuss the approaches made available by the project.
