Quinta dos Carvalhais Branco Especial: 1st place in the Top 10 Portuguese Wines
The Essência do Vinho - Porto 2022 event elected the TOP 10 of Portuguese Wines, in a tasting with an international jury which took place at Palácio da Bolsa, in Porto.
In the category of white wines, Quinta dos Carvalhais Branco Especial reached the first place of the ranking. This is a blend wine which, in its fifth edition, gathers seven different vintages: 2006, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020. Authored by the winemaker Beatriz Cabral de Almeida, it was made from the varieties Encruzado (48%), Gouveio (24%), Sémillon (9%), and others (19%).
The panel of judges evaluated in blind tasting a pre-selection of more than 60 samples, made by the Tasting Panel of Revista de Vinhos, which over the last year has tasted thousands of references. Opinion leaders, journalists, critics and sommeliers from Portugal, Spain, Denmark, England, Italy, Switzerland, United States and Brazil, in a total of 40 experts, made the final selection of the TOP 10 Portuguese Wines.
