Sogrape’s Wine Tourism reopens its doors
The Sandeman and Ferreira Cellars have reopened their wine tourism spaces to visitors, with the “Clean & Safe Establishment” seal, for meeting all of the conditions and measures of the Portuguese Directorate-General of Health (DGS) and Turismo de Portugal.
With a focus on the safety and health of everyone involved, the reopening complies with Sogrape’s Wine Tourism Safety Protocol, with a set of guidelines to be followed as guests begin to return. Each of the two venues will be limited to 10 visitors per group/tour to ensure social distancing, and that both spaces allow compliance due to their large size, during the entire time.
There are many reasons to visit or revisit the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The Ferreira Cellars, which were recently remodelled, now have new spaces and novelties, such as the Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira House and Vintage Museum, dedicated to the most iconic category of Port Wine. Sandeman Cellars’ many tour options are now available again, such as a journey through the brand’s long tradition of producing Old Tawnies, or a trip guided by the famous Don through the history of the brand founded in 1790.
For lovers of the outdoors and the origins of Port Wine, Quinta do Seixo, in the Douro, has been reopened to the public as well. Here, among various outdoor activities, guests can tour the vineyards (now in the germination phase), discover the winery, enjoy wine tastings or simply appreciate the magnificent panoramic view while enjoying a picnic with regional flavours. Our tours have been adapted to prioritise the use of outdoor spaces and contact with nature. However, masks are still mandatory for everyone, and are available to guests at no charge if needed.
Wine tastings and pairings will be safeguarded by the new safety standards. Using the aCarta app, visitors can consult information on tastings and prices in digital format, by reading a QRCode.
