2014 is a Reserva Especial year

The release of a new Reserva Especial has been confirmed for June: 2014 represents the 18th edition of an eagerly expected wine, confirming Casa Ferreirinha’s excellence in creating great Douro wines.

The passion and respect for what nature provides in each harvest are the secret behind the waiting. The waiting for rare, exclusive and special wines born in the vineyard and evolved in the bottle. Six years after the last edition, 2014 Reserva Especial is a wine that builds upon a six-decade history, establishing Casa Ferreirinha’s legacy of excellence and quality.

In the words of Luís Sottomayor, “2014 was a year with a balanced maturation, with some rain during winter and a heatwave in June, while remaining harmonious. These characteristics are reflected in the wine, also featuring a remarkable complexity." For the winemaker behind another edition, “The excellent ageing capacity proven throughout the last nine years made this wine worthy of becoming a Reserva Especial”.

Created in 1960, Reserva Especial represents the best in the Douro by the demanding and wise hand of Casa Ferreirinha, a house of great wines, tradition and innovation. 2014 Reserva Especial will be rolled out in different markets in June.
