Prémios Dona Antónia: Maria Manuel Mota and Sara do Ó are the 2019 awardees
Maria Manuel Mota, a Portuguese scientist and Executive Director at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) in Lisbon, and Sara do Ó, founder of Grupo Your, have been chosen to receive, on 9 July, in a private ceremony at Quinta do Porto in the Douro Valley, the 2019 DONA ANTÓNIA ADELAIDE FERREIRA AWARDS.
The Career Achievement Award, won by Maria Manuel Mota, seeks to honour a lifetime’s achievement, deserving of unquestionable public recognition. As for the Revelation Award, won by Sara do Ó, it aims to recognise a career which is at a stage of growth and development.
Presided over by Artur Santos Silva, the purpose of creating this award has been, since its inauguration and throughout its 32 editions, to honour Portuguese women whose career paths closely reflect the personal and professional values personified by Antónia Adelaide Ferreira. A peerless character in the history of the Douro, an entrepreneur with strong humanist values, Dona Antónia’s influence was key to the development of the brand Porto Ferreira and all of the winemaking in the Douro Valley.
