Discover Casa Ferreirinha Quinta da Leda 2017

In the year marking 25 years of its launching and 20 years since it was first released as a blend, Quinta da Leda presents the 2017 harvest. This red wine full of character showcases Casa Ferreirinha at the pinnacle of one of the world’s most renowned Regions, the Douro.

Honourably bearing the name of its vineyards of origins, 2017 Quinta da Leda inherits the richness of the great wines of the Douro Region and reveals a profile of fine structure and firm tannins shaped by a hot, dry year. Luís Sottomayor, head winemaker at Casa Ferreirinha, “was quite confident about the quality and potential of the 2017 harvest”.

2017 will forever be remembered as the unusually early harvest that began before the end of August. “The maturation brought on by the intense heat and the decreased availability of water in the soil resulted in a wine with an excellent structure. The superb elegance and unique harmony achieved are directly attributable to the 170 hectares of vineyards at Quinta da Leda, where the different altitudes and exposures complement each other,” says Luís.

2017 Casa Ferreirinha’s Quinta da Leda has an intense bouquet, with very well integrated hints of flowers, balsamic and wood. This wine of exceptional quality retains the traditional Quinta da Leda profile while offering special notes typical of a hot year.

Quinta da Leda began life in 1995 as a Touriga Nacional varietal. A blend was produced in 1997 and bottled two years later, with its 2000 launch on the market coinciding with celebrations of the new millennium. Quinta da Leda lends a new depth to the Douro Region wines. Aside from being an excellent ready-to-enjoy contemporary wine, it also has excellent ageing potential.
