Casa Ferreirinha once again hands out Innovation Award at the Golden Vines Awards 2023
Casa Ferreirinha is once again associating with the “Wine Oscars” by sponsoring the Innovation category at the Golden Vines Awards 2023. Created to keep the legacy of Gérard Basset alive, these awards are organized by Liquid Icons and by the foundation created in his tribute.
The third edition of the Golden Vines Awards 2023, among the most renowned awards within the winemaking industry, took place from 13 to 15 October — this year, Paris was the city chosen to hold the ceremony. Casa Ferreirinha took part yet again in this event distinguishing the best in the wine world by sponsoring the innovation category, one of the nine accolades awarded. The Viticulture & Enology department of University of California, Davis, was this edition's winner.
The Golden Vines Awards 2023 featured a deluxe programme catered for an audience of 300 guests. The highlight of the event was the award ceremony gala dinner served in The Opéra Garnier, prepared by Chefs Alain Ducasse and Akrame Benallal.
Besides shinning the spotlight on the stars of the Fine Wines universe, by distinguishing the best producers in the industry, these awards have the ultimate goal of raising funds for the Gérard Basset Foundation, and of financing training programmes in the wine, spirits and hotel industries. In order to accomplish that, several initiatives were promoted over three days, such as the Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience auction, taking place online between the 1st and the 15th of October, in which Casa Ferreirinha partook with a batch comprised by three magnum bottles of Barca-Velha 2011, as well as a wine tourism experience in Porto and the Douro.
The Gérard Basset foundation was created as a tribute to the late Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and Best Sommelier in the World in 2010, aiming to invest in education and training in the wine industry. The Foundation is responsible for financing scholarships, learning programmes and career opportunities for young professionals of the wine, spirits and hotel industries, promoting diversity, equality and inclusion. The ‘Wine Oscars’ will return in 2024, in an edition to be held in October, in Madrid.
