Quinta dos Carvalhais once again elevates the expression of great white wines with a limited-edition Gouveio, faithful to the distinctive and experimental character that defines its vision in the Dão. In a year when the grape variety showed itself at its very best, displaying exemplary purity, Quinta dos Carvalhais Gouveio 2023 Special Edition is born—marking the debut of this variety as a single-varietal wine in more than three decades of the estate’s history.

This wine is the result of careful observation and a spirit that never relinquishes experimentation. In a year marked by climatic challenges, the variety proved resilient, revealing a remarkable balance between aromatic exuberance and vibrant freshness. Under the guidance of winemaker Beatriz Cabral de Almeida, the Gouveio revealed itself as dense, precise and deeply elegant.

The sophistication of this edition, limited to just 3,655 bottles, arises from a combination of 18 months’ ageing in oak and stainless steel, resulting in a creamy texture and layered complexity where tropical notes coexist with the minerality of the granite soils. Launching this Gouveio is a tribute to Quinta dos Carvalhais’ pioneering legacy—the estate that introduced the Dão’s first Encruzado in 1992.
