Série Ímpar Vinhas dos Homens: A Tribute to the Origins and Authenticity of Trás-os-Montes

Some wines tell stories. Other times, it’s the stories that give birth to a wine. Série Ímpar Vinhas dos Homens was born this way — from five old vineyards, all bearing men’s names, and owned by five men from Trás-os-Montes. Silent guardians of ancient knowledge and a land of contrasts and authenticity.

Inspired by past practices, this wine is crafted with minimal intervention, where time, nature, and human touch come together with simplicity and respect. A tribute to the essence of Trás-os-Montes and to the people who, for generations, have shaped their land with hands and heart.

Created by Diogo Sepúlveda, winemaker at Sogrape, this red wine from native varieties — a field blend of reds (80%) and whites (20%) sourced from the Mirandese plateau and the schist slopes of the Douro River — reveals unusual freshness and elegance. With a bright ruby color, notes of wild berries, pine, and “sous-bois,” and delicate tannins that draw a long, enveloping finish, it is a wine of altitude, memory, and soul.

“Vinhas dos Homens was born from a deep desire to return to the origins. To make a wine that honors what has always existed in Trás-os-Montes — old vineyards, granite and schist soils, and an intimate connection between those who cultivate and what the land gives back”, shares Diogo Sepúlveda.

Bottled after 24 months in used French oak barrels and an equal period of bottle aging, this DOC Trás-os-Montes 2020 comes in a limited edition of 4,307 bottles. A wine that breathes time and patience, designed to pair with game dishes, grilled meats, and cheeses, and that can evolve for a decade.
